Mike Comrie is not a household name as far as household names in Hollywood are concerned. However, he was married to a household name for a few years, and he even has a baby with his recent ex-wife, Hilary Duff. She got her start in the Hollywood business the same way that so many other young girls get their start; with the Disney Channel. Unlike other young actresses, however, she has not had a mental breakdown and ruined her own career or life at this point. She and Mike Comrie were together for many years before they made the decision to get married and have a baby together, and the world was very shocked when the two decided to call it quits on their marriage.

It was 2007 when the couple began dating, and it was a bit of a shock to many people considering the fact that she was so much younger than he. However, they stuck it out and continued with their relationship for many years. When they made the decision to get married in 2010 in Santa Barbara, very few people were surprised. They managed to keep their relationship very quiet and they stayed out of the press for many years. They seemed like the type of couple that would really make it work and really make their marriage last. When it was announced that Hilary Duff was pregnant in 2011, the world was really excited for her. She gave birth to their son in 2012. Everything seemed to be going really well for the couple until they made the decision to split up in January 2014. They announced their divorce a year later and finalized the divorce in February 2016.

This is why it came as such a shock to most of the world when the couple was spotted in May 2016 kissing as they were with their son. Photographs of their kiss made it to the internet as someone noticed it happening, and now the world is wondering what’s going on in their personal life? He’s 35

He was born on September 11, 1980. He turned 21 the day that America went under attack as the Twin Towers fell. It was not the way he wanted to spend his 21st birthday, but even being Canadian did not stop him from mourning the loss of such a tragic moment and such senselessness. He was already playing hockey professionally at that point, too.

He’s Canadian

Born in Edmonton, Alberta, he’s always been a Canadian despite the fact that he has lived in the United States for some time. He is very proud of his heritage, and of the fact that Canadians have such a wonderful reputation as being some of the nicest people in the world. He seems to be a nice guy, too, and people say that about him all the time.

He had hip surgery

Being a professional athlete is difficult work, especially when you have to do that and take care of your family at the same time. However, sometimes the injuries are pretty substantial. He’s had three hip surgeries in his adult life, and his final one is the reason that he had to leave the game behind and focus on his god health from that point forward.

He’s retired

It was right after he became a parent with his now ex-wife that he needed his third and final hip surgery. What this meant for Mike Comrie was a retirement from the game of hockey. We don’t know this for certain, but there is serious speculation that part of the reason his marriage did not work was that he was a new father, a new husband and he was forced to leave his career behind all at the same time, which is not an easy task to ask of anyone.

His family is wealthy

He’s not the only one in his family with some money to spare. Mike Comrie comes from a very wealthy Canadian family, and it’s more than you might imagine. His father and his uncles founded a company that sells furniture and they called it The Brick furniture company. When they did decide to finally sell the business in 2012, they earned a reported $700 million for it.

He’s got a cool nickname

Because his family owned the biggest furniture store around when he was growing up, Mike Comrie got a cool nickname out of it. Growing up, people called him the Brick. It might only be because his family owns a furniture store by the same name, but it’s a cool nickname nonetheless. In fact, it sounds downright dangerous and very mysterious, and that is awesomely cool.

He went early in the NHL Draft

When he was chosen in the NHL Draft, he was chosen pretty early. He was chosen in the third round overall as the 91st overall pick in the draft. That’s not a bad deal for a kid in college who was looking to play professionally as a career move.

He went to the University of Michigan

Sometimes people who play professional sports go to college and sometimes they do not. Mike Comrie did go to college, and his family was quite happy about that. They wanted their kids to go to school and get and education, so he did. Now he has something to fall back on should he decide he’d like to go back to work at some point.

His first deal was huge

Not many people in the NHL get to say that they signed at 3-year $10 million deal, but Mike Comrie did. He was in demand and he was a big name to have on the roster. It’s one of the bigger deals to go through the sport and he was able to make it without much issue at all.

He’s got a hockey playing brother

Mike Comrie has an older brother who also played the game for a while. He is not nearly as well known, nor was his career as successful as his brothers. However, it was a family game and they were quite good at it. That’s not something to be ashamed of.
