Actor Samuel L Jackson was less than impressed when an American television anchor confused him with fellow black Hollywood star Laurence Fishburne on Monday.

Jackson, the star of Pulp Fiction, berated entertainment reporter Sam Rubin for his mistake on Los Angeles-based station KTLA.

Jackson said: “I’m not Laurence Fishburne! We may be all black and famous, but we all don’t look alike. You’re busted.”

Rubin had begun by asking Jackson what reaction there had been to a Super Bowl car commercial he was in. Laurence Fishburne, star of movies including The Matrix, was in fact in the commercial.

During an extended tongue-lashing Jackson, who does TV commercials for Capital One credit cards, said: “I’m the other guy. There’s more than one black guy doing a commercial. I’m the 'What’s in your wallet?’ black guy. He’s the car black guy. Morgan Freeman is the other credit card black guy. You only hear his voice though, so you probably won’t confuse him with Laurence Fishburne.”

He went on: “You’re the entertainment reporter for this station and you don’t know the difference between me and Laurence Fishburne? That must be a very short line for your job outside there. Really? Really?”

Rubin later issued an extended apology.
