Who is Jesse Plemons?

Jesse Lon Plemons is a hardworking American actor who has not let his fans down after coming to the spotlight in 2006 at the age of 18. He started his career in acting at the early age of 3 and has since been continuing it. Although he started acting at a very young age, he got his big breakthrough when he was cast as Landry Clarke in NBC’s TV series called Friday Night Lights (2006-2011). Similarly, he has also acted in some best TV series of all time like Breaking Bad and Fargo.

Early Life

Jesse Plemons was born on the 2nd of April, 1988 in Dallas, Texas. His parents’ names are Lisa Beth and Jim Bob Plemons. He grew up in Mart, Texas with his older sister named Jill.

 In 2016, he got in a relationship with the beautiful Kirsten Dunst and finally got engaged in 2017 and gave birth to a son, Ennis Howard Plemons.

Childhood and education

Jesse Plemons’s first acting job was in a commercial for the famous soft drink brand, Coca-Cola. After that, he started acting in small roles after auditioning in LA (Los Angeles). Since he wanted to focus more on his acting career, he completed his high school through online learning from Mart High School. Before that, he enrolled in different schools and liked playing football.

Wife

It was on the set of Fargo, that the famous love story of Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst started. Soon after, they became good friends. They used to rehearse their lines together, they had some things in common with each other like they both started acting at a very young age.

After being friends with each other for almost about a year and a half, they finally started dating each other.

Kirsten has been reported saying that Plemons is a very hard-working man and gives his best in every work he does and this is also one of the many reasons why she fell in love with him. 

Soon after they started dating and got engaged in January 2017, they were blessed with a baby a year and a half later.

Career

Jesse Lon Plemons got his spotlight with NBC’s Friday Night Lights. In the series, he played the supporting character of Landy Clarke who is the best friend of Matt Saracen (a football quarterback). Landy joins a football team later on in the series. Since he is a good football player in real life, he was better than most other actors and didn’t use any body-double for his stunts. He got hurt real bad when he had to do a scene with his co-star Taylor Kitsch requiring more than ten stitches. 

It was because of this dedication of his, he got the recognition he deserved after playing in Friday Night Lights. Shortly after the show ended, he got the chance to play in some awesome films and series like Battleship and Breaking Bad.

Tv shows

After Jesse Plemons got famous for his role in Friday Night Lights, he has worked in a handful of some amazing movies as well as series. He was the first cast in Battleship as Boatswain Mate Seaman Jimmy ‘Ordy’ Ord which was a big hit at the box office. He was really great with his former co-stars from Friday Night Lights, so the director of the Battleship decided to bring Jesse in the project too.

Soon after Battleship, Jesse was offered a role in arguably the best Television series of all time called Breaking Bad in 2012. Jesse had to play the character of a psychotic antagonist whose name was Todd Alquist. After being impressed by his acting, the director and the producers gave him the regular position in the fifth and final season.

Breaking Bad

Jesse Plemons has done such amazing work in the final season of Breaking Bad. 

He has also been cast in the sequel to Breaking Bad. The sequel is called “El Camino” which takes place in the same world as Breaking Bad and continues the story with the protagonist as Aaron Paul who plays the character of Jesse Pinkman. It was because of this series Breaking Bad that he got the nickname ‘Meth Damon’ because fans say that his resemblance to Matt Damon is uncanny. People have often confused Jesse for Matt Damon.

Jesse Plemons is now best known for The Irishman by Martin Scorsese, Game Night by John Francis Daley starring Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams, and Jonathan Goldstein and Fargo by Ethan Coen and Joel Coen.  Even though he has done supporting roles in most TV series or films, it was because of his hard work and determination that he is successful in life and got what he deserved.

His other famous works are Black Mirror (a very popular anthology series), All the Pretty Horses (where he plays as a young Damon), Paul, The Master, Bridge of Spies, American Made, etc.

Jesse Plemons has been nominated for lots of awards since his big breakthrough. In 2012 and 2013, he was nominated twice for Breaking Bad and won once. Similarly, he was nominated twice for the series Fargo and won once in 2015 and 2016. He was also nominated twice for Black Mirror: USS Callister in 2017.

In 2018, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for the movie Game Night. He was again nominated for the Critic’s Choice Television Award but this time for El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie in 2019.

And finally, last year, he was nominated for Best Actor for I’m Thinking of Ending Things.

Ongoing Projects

Jesse Plemons is still active in his acting career and it has been confirmed that he is coming back in 2021 and the following years with new movies and series projects like Antlers, Jungle Cruise, The Power of the Dog, Judas and the Black Messiah, and a documentary about Fred Hampton.
