Forrest Scott was born on May 24, 1995 in Lakeland, Florida. From a young age, he had a strong sense of duty and desire to serve his community. After high school, Forrest joined the United States Marine Corps, where he further developed his courage, discipline, and commitment to helping others.

Early Career in Law Enforcement

After honorably completing his military service, Forrest embarked on a career in law enforcement. He joined the Polk County Sheriff's Office, where he completed his training and began serving as a deputy sheriff.

One of Forrest's first training officers recalls the intimidating Marine exterior that initially hid his true caring nature. While he pushed trainees to reach their potential, it was evident that he wanted them to succeed. During long shifts, Forrest helped cultivate camaraderie through humor and playful antics. He quickly earned the nickname "Pops" from his younger colleagues.

During long shifts, Forrest built rapport through good-natured teasing. And he always followed reprimands with the simple reminder to “Fix yourself.”

Beyond the job, Forrest cherished time with family and friends. He is remembered for his selfless devotion, wisdom beyond his years, and ability to brighten any situation with humor.

Honoring a Life of Service

To honor Forrest Scott’s memory, a memorial service will be held on August 30, 2023 at Lakeland Funeral Home. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office will provide full law enforcement memorial honors.

In lieu of flowers, Forrest’s family encourages donations to Polk County Sheriff’s Charities. This will continue Forrest’s legacy of supporting local youth programs.

The community will feel the absence of Forrest Scott’s dedication and compassion. Though his life ended too soon, his selfless service and impact on others will remain.
