Prince William, Prince Harry lifelong friend Hugh Grosvenors wedding snub
Prince Harry has reportedly been snubbed an invitation to the wedding of his lifelong friend in favour of Prince William.
Billionaire British aristocrat Hugh Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster, 32, is engaged to be married to his girlfriend of two years Olivia Henson, 30, in Chester, England, in June.
A longtime friend of both William and Harry, Grosvenor will host what is set to be the society wedding of 2024, with several members of the British royal family on the guest list including the Prince of Wales, who is tipped to be best man, as well as King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
And despite maintaining a close friendship with Harry since he left the UK in early 2020, Grosvenor has made the difficult decision not to invite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to the nuptials next summer, according to The Sunday Times.
Grosvenor, who is godfather to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ eldest son, 10-year-old Prince George, is said to have made the brutal cut in order to eliminate awkwardness between estranged members of the royal family on his big day.
To make the situation more uncomfortable, The Times claimed Grosvenor is also godfather to Harry and Meghan’s eldest son, Prince Archie, 4, though that information has not been publicly disclosed by the Sussexes.
Tensions between Harry, Meghan Markle and The Firm have flared yet again in recent days with the release of Omid Scobie’s bombshell book, Endgame.
The most scandalous revelation came via a Dutch version of the book, which claimed the King and the Princess of Wales were the previously unnamed royals who allegedly aired “concerns” about Archie’s skin colour while Meghan was pregnant with her son in 2018 and 2019.
The royal family and the Sussexes are yet to comment on reports.
In the original edition of his book, Scobie declines to identify the royal, claiming libel laws prevented him from doing so.
“I do know who made the comments about Archie’s skin colour,” he told UK program Good Morning during his book publicity blitz.

“The names were mentioned in letters between Meghan and Charles that were exchanged sometime after the Oprah interview.
“We know from sources that Charles was horrified that that’s how Meghan felt. Those conversations were, and that he wanted to, sort of as a representative for the family, have that conversation with her.
“And it is why I personally think they have been able to move forward with some kind of line of communication afterwards. Though they may not see eye-to-eye on it.”
