WATCH: 12-Year-Old Ventriloquist Gets Golden Buzzer on America's Got Talent
The 12th season of America’s Got Talent premiered on Tuesday night and ratings show that it was the most watched season premiere of the show in six years!
One of the most talked-about performances of the night was a 12-year-old girl named Darci Lynne Farmer, who is from Oklahoma City. She is a ventriloquist with a stuffed rabbit named Petunia. When asked why she came on the show, Darci responded that it is her big dream and that she wants to “keep ventriloquism alive because it’s not common.”
Once Darci started her act with Petunia, it was clear that ventriloquism wasn’t the contestant’s only talent. “Petunia” began singing “Summertime” by George Gershwin, and when Darci tried to join in, “Petunia” silenced Darci by covering her mouth, which amused both the audience and the judges.
At the end of the performance, all four judges gave a standing ovation and complimented the young contestant. Mel B was especially blown away, and said that she couldn’t describe how she felt in words, so instead, she pressed the golden buzzer! The golden buzzer means that Darci can move straight to the live shows.
Darci’s audition currently has over 9 million views on YouTube and over 164 million on Facebook! You can watch it below.
